- more chairs brought in, people standing are now sitting

Laurel stepping in here for just a moment before passing the laptop back to Sheetal :)
Everyone's
Shannon Dea (women's caucus and SOGS) is speaking. She thanked Fab for the uncondintional apology and asked that we figure out a way to include graduate students in the plebescite Fab mentioned (ie so that the editor could be . She also asked the the editor, who is not a student, sign an agreement that would put her or him under the student code of conduct.
PhD candidate at the faculty of ed - she finds it unacceptable that the editor is not here (applause, applause x2...)
Carina Douglas Library and Information Science grad - 2nd top tier university where she's seen these kinds of pranks take place in the last six years. She also finds it unacceptable the the writer of the article is not named. She says that she's upset that her degree is now affiliated with a national scandal. That the UWO reputation is being smeared is a "slap across the face," as is the fact the editorial staff isn't here... "hegemony of assumed privilege that we can get away with this"... She called for accountability and adult responsibility NOW. She pointed out that in six months 1000s of students will be come.
Elise Thorburn, an MA student at theory and crit: the spoof issuse is only the most aggregious in a long list of offenses the gazette prints on a daily basis, and she's going to remind us of a few of them (YAY!): the snow man contest from earlier this year (literally, chilly! hahaha...) She says that it's really nice to have an apology, finally. Hey - shout out for miss g! Yes. She points out that the first response was ridiculous (get over yourselves) -- "dear gazette, you can get over yourself." Word, sister. WORD. She calls for an immediate drafting of an anti-oppresion policy for the Gazette and USC.
more to come!
